Peugeot Velocite
(Transportation Design)

In the year 2008, PSA Peugeot Citroën (France), held its design competition, focusing on light, energy efficient vehicles for the upcoming years. This is my entry into the contest. the Peugeot Velocité (speed) is a concept born from experimenting with packaging ideas. How to package a two-passenger electric vehicle in a way that maintained a mostly central weight distribution?

Velocité maintains the visual cockpit integrity of a full-sized, four-wheeled vehicle. Weight of the passengers and all the charging/drivetrain equipment rests on the front axle. The batteries and electric motor ride in the back.

Velocité employs a direct-drive system. The electric motor is housed directly inside the hubless wheel. Driven by gears, it can also act as an energy-generating brake. The entire assembly is suspended by a monoshock, motorcycle-style fork.
